Curriculum
Curriculum Overview
We at The Wells Academy Yorkshire endeavour to deliver a balanced curriculum that is tailored to the Learners needs and ability.
All classes are mixed ability with differentiated work set for individual broadly in line with the National Curriculum. We endeavour to focus on the depth of subject knowledge rather than the breadth to enable individuals to fill in knowledge gaps that many of our learners have.
Our priority is the development of literacy and numeracy skills coupled with social emotional and behaviour management. The main aim is to enable learners to reintegrate back into mainstream with the cooperation of the host school/Academy.
We offer a comprehensive PHSE lessons based around the Pol ED based curriculum. Relationship and Sex Education is provided at levels appropriate to age and maturity of the Learner.

We endeavor to offer personal development curriculum where the focus is on the SEMH needs of the pupil and life skills that promote healthy lifestyles and community cohesion.
To this end we have an enrichment time where learners are encouraged to participate in work that is new and different for example art therapy, food technology, local walks to sites of interest etc. These activities offer a chance for individuals to develop new skills and interests which have the potential to develop life long hobbies or interest as well as healthy lifestyles and positive mental health.
